The stamped steel is fairly thick as well as non-staining (does well in the dishwasher). The scoop feels solid thanks to the good 3-spot welds between the handle and the bowl parts of the scoop, as well as because of the thickness of the steel (18/10). The way the handle is stamped, the upper surface is slightly convex (good), while the lower surface is slightly concave (not ideal).I would have given the product 5 stars if the handle had smoother edges and a flat or convex lower surface and if the handle and bowl were one piece rather than welded. This scoop is longer than most others, but not as long as advertised. Overall Length: 7 5/8" Length of Handle Alone: 5 3/4" Diameter of Top of Bowl: 1 7/8" Diameter of Bottom of Bowl is slightly smaller.
